commissioned for new 2015 broadway production of les miserables
the commission was to produce a series of 6 illustrations for a new broadway production of les miserables in new york for AKA advertising new york. I had to work very closely with the design team through several rough stages and conference calls to get the right feel and composition for the illustrations as the illustrations had to work as backgrounds across 14 poster images to promote the production and also for front of house usage at the theatre. It was a great project to work on not least of which because I was put on the guest list for the current London production of Les Mis on shaftsbury avenue as I had to see the stage sets, lighting and colours in order to capture key scenes. I also had to look at the original set designs by Victor Hugo and develop them into a more contemporary feel. The illustrations had to work in conjunction with the photography of the main characters on the posters and be capable of working as complete images and in sections for smaller background areas so it was quite a complex project that I really enjoyed working on. Its great to have my work on Broadway!
